North Platte Man Arrested for Theft….

During early February 2016, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports of someone going through mail boxes around the North Platte area. Additionally during the same time period a vehicle was broken into on Highway 83 and Garfield Table Road. An extensive investigation began and a suspect was seen on several business security cameras attempting to use the proceeds from the thefts.

On February 19, 2016, Deputies were alerted that forty-eight year old North Platte resident Richard “Brian” Valentine attempted to cash a credit card check for $5800.00. The check was made out to Mr. Valentine by a Lincoln County citizen. When the citizen was contacted they did not know Mr. Valentine or issue him a check.

On February 19, 2016 Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended Mr. Valentine in North Platte. Mr. Valentine had an outstanding warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine and items in his possession from the above thefts. Mr. Valentine was also arrested for Second Degree Forgery, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Criminal Mischief. The investigation continues.
