Father and Son Arrested for Multiple Crimes

On October 28, 2016 Lincoln County Sheriff’s Investigators spoke with a female victim of Domestic Violence. The victim advised her live boyfriend forty three year old Michael Jara had assaulted her causing debilitating injuries. Mr. Jara also assaulted her two year old daughter.

The victim advised recently Mr. Jara began threatening to blow up her home with explosives. Also Mr. Jara threatened to shoot the victim and her children. A team of Deputies went to the victim’s residence in rural Lincoln County; they contacted Mr. Jara and his twenty year old son Michael Jara Jr. Mr. Jara was arrested for First Degree Domestic Assault and Child Abuse.

A search of the home was conducted. Deputies discovered at least four destructive devices (large pipe bombs), a shotgun and suspected Methamphetamines. Mr. Jara and his son Michael Jara Jr. were also arrested for Possession of a Destructive Device.

A Nebraska State Patrol Bomb Specialist was called in to remove the destructive devices. One of the bombs was too unstable to be transported. Bomb Specialist destroyed the device at the residence. Others were removed and taken to a safer area and then destroyed.

Both Mr. Jara and Mr. Jara Jr. were transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and incarcerated. This is an ongoing investigation, additional charges may follow.
