Intoxicated Driver Arrested
On June 28, 2019 around 9:00 p.m., Deputies were advised of a suspicious vehicle on South Miriam Road. The reporting party advised the male driver was reportedly very intoxicated.
Deputies arrived and found the vehicle unoccupied in a ditch. While checking the vehicle a male subject pulled up on a UTV at a high rate of speed. This person was identified as twenty-five year old Cody Wagner of North Platte, NE. Mr. Wagner appeared to be highly impaired and was identified as the driver of the vehicle in the ditch. Deputies questioned Mr. Wagner if he owned the UTV, but eventually learned Mr. Wagner had taken the UTV without permission of the owner.
Eventually Mr. Wagner was arrested for Driving Under the influence 2nd Offense above .15, Refusal to consent to Preliminary Breath Test and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Additionally, it was found Mr. Wagner was in another accident prior to ending up in the ditch on Miriam Road. Through the course of the investigation Deputies discovered Mr. Wagner had driving on a closed canal road by the Diversion Dam and ran through some cable gating. Mr. Wagner was charged for Criminal Mischief, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and Driving Under Suspension. Mr. Wagner was incarcerated in the Lincoln County Detention Center.
