Wallace Man Arrested for Sexual Assault of a Child

On October 14, 2019, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of possible sexual assault of a child. The incident was reported to have occurred at Sutherland Reservoir during the summer of 2019 and possibly on other occasions.

Sheriff’s Office Investigators conducted an extensive investigation into the matter. Based on preliminary investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for sixty-five year old Richard Moore of rural Wallace, NE. The warrant was for First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Third Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

On October 18, 2019, Deputies did arrest Mr. Moore on the warrant. Mr. Moore was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center with no bond.

At the same time, Investigators worked with Perkins County Deputies and executed a search warrant of Mr. Moore’s rural residence (just outside of Lincoln County in Perkins County). Deputies from both counties worked tirelessly until late in the evening removing two covered trailers full of suspected evidence. The investigation into this matter is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
