Ogallala Man Arrested for Terroristic Threats

On June 3, 2022 around 11:00 p.m., the Lincoln County 911 Center began receiving calls about a man threating subjects with a gun at Sutherland Reservoir. It was reported a man wondered into a group of people camping and started waving a gun telling them to be quiet.

Several Deputies responded to the scene and located fifty-nine year old Ogallala, NE resident Roy Lunkwitz. Mr. Lunkwitz was detained and eventually a .9mm pistol was located in his camper.

Deputies spoke with several campers who advised Mr. Lunkwitz came into their area and told them they were being loud and needed to shut it down for the night. At least two male campers said Mr. Lunkwitz pointed the pistol at them while others, including 14 children, hid in various campers.

Mr. Lunkwitz was arrested and placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center for; Terroristic Threats and Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
