North Platte Man Arrested for Theft
On October 2, 2018, Deputies received a report of a male subject stealing items from cars around Sutherland Schools. Deputies met with potential victims and did not find much missing at the time. The suspect was described as a male driving a gray Dodge Durango with Dawson County Nebraska license plates.
Deputies searched for the occupant and vehicle but could not find them. On October 3, 2018 a Sheriff’s Deputy took a call of a burglary from the same area of Sutherland. The Deputy was able to view surveillance footage from the area and observed the same described male and vehicle as the previous night.
Deputies continued to search for the vehicle and located it north of the Interstate near Hershey. Deputies found the male occupant was sleeping the vehicle, he was awakened and detained. The Deputies found the Dawson County license plates on the vehicle were stolen and with further investigation found the vehicle was stolen from a North Platte car dealership. The dealership did not notice the car was missing until called.
Deputies identified the individual as thirty year old Anthony Sandoval of North Platte, NE. Mr. Sandoval was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property over $5000.00 and for Theft by Taking. Additional charges are likely and the case remains under investigation.
