Hit and Run Accident
On May 20, 2019 at approximately 8:35 a.m., Deputies received a report of a reckless driver eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 from Hershey. It was reported the vehicle was swerving all over the road. As Deputies responded they received a report of an accident at Highway 30 and Front Road. The caller reported the other driver had fled the accident scene in his vehicle.
Deputies were able to locate both vehicles near Link 56 C and Highway 30 at Hershey, NE. Deputies met with the caller of the accident and was told the other vehicle had rear ended her at the intersection of Highway 30 and Front Road, while she was attempting to turn. After the vehicle fled she followed it to this location.
Deputies met with the driver of the fleeing vehicle and found it was a juvenile male who had no driver’s license. Deputies discovered the male driver appeared to be heavily under the influence of Marijuana and found suspected Marijuana in his vehicle. After field sobriety maneuvers the juvenile was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for further testing. Upon completion of the testing the Juvenile was charged with; Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Possession of Marijuana less than One ounce, No Driver’s License and Driving Under the Influence Drugs, 1st Offense. The Juvenile was eventually released to his parent. No injuries were reported in the incident.
