According to the Traffic and Safety Administration, in 2021 there were 12,330 people killed in speeding related crashes. Speeding can reduce a driver’s ability to negotiate curves or maneuver around obstacles in the roadway. Speeding also cuts down on the driver’s reaction time giving them less time to react to roadway hazards.
Because of this the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will be joining the North Platte Police working a Nationwide enforcement of speeding from July 10th to July 31st. A grant provided by the Nebraska Department of Highway Safety will allow more Deputies to patrol the Roadways in Lincoln County during this period to reduce speed related crashes by enforcing speed limits.
