Highway Safety Grant leads to Multiple Arrests
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office completed an Alcohol Enforcement Grant during Nebraskaland Days. The Nebraska Department of Highway Safety provided overtime for Deputies to do extra patrol.
Deputies conducted two-hundred seventy-seven traffic stops and fifteen motorist assists. Eight subjects were arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, two for Possession of a Deadly Weapon and two for Possession of a Firearm. Seven drivers were arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Also arrests were made for Third Degree Sexual Assault, Obstructing an Officer, Trespassing and five Warrant arrests.
Deputies issued twenty-three Minor in Possession citations as well as forty-five speeding citations. Citations were also issued for the following offensives: five Driving Under Suspension, three Open Container of Alcohol, two Exhibition of Acceleration, three Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and one Possession of Marijuana.
This was a highly successful campaign and future grants are planned for upcoming holidays.
