Disturbance Leads to Multiple Arrests and Seizures
On June 22, 2021, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office were informed of a disturbance at 25000 block of South Highway 83, Wellfleet, NE. Deputies were told during the disturbance two gun shots were heard. The other party involved in the disturbance left the area northbound towards North Platte, NE. Deputies were able to locate these subjects south of North Platte on U.S. Highway 83. In speaking with the individuals, it was learned the resident of the property, thirty-eight year old Aaron Goold of Wellfleet, NE., fired a gun into the air while the subjects were in an argument.
Through the investigation, Deputies learned of a prior incident on June 20, 2021. During the disturbance, Mr. Goold pointed a firearm at a female subject, who lived in the residence, and threatened to shoot her, Law Enforcement was not called on this incident. Deputies developed probable cause to arrest Mr. Goold for Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and 3rd Degree Domestic Assault. Further information obtained indicating there were drugs and other possible evidence still on scene at the residence.
While Deputies were applying for a search warrant, a vehicle pulled into the residence and stopped. Deputies learned the driver of the vehicle, fifty-seven year old North Platte, NE resident Louis Brogdon, had a local warrant and was taken into custody. During a search of his person, deputies located roughly eleven grams of suspected Methamphetamine.
Mr. Brodgon’s vehicle was searched and found to have five firearms within it; Mr. Brodgon is a convicted felon. Mr. Brodgon was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person five counts and Possession of a Defaced Firearm.
A search warrant was conducted on Mr. Goold’s property, which lead to the retrieval of the firearm used in both disturbances, narcotics, and drug related items. After the search additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Controlled Substance Heroin, Possession of Fentanyl and Possession of Buprenorphine were added to Mr. Goold.
Following up on the investigation at Wellfleet, Deputies responded to the home address of Louis Brogdon in North Platte, NE. When Deputies arrived they located a silver 2019 Kia Optima, with North Carolina Dealer plates. Deputies made contact with the driver forty year old Grand Island resident Abdihafid Farah. Mr. Farah is a convicted felon. During the contact with Mr. Farah, Deputies gathered reasonable suspicion that criminal activity was afoot. The driver denied consent to search the vehicle and “K9 Kailah” was deployed. “K9 Kailah” had a positive alert on the vehicle giving officer probable cause to search the vehicle. In the vehicle, deputies located suspected Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia, along with large knives. Mr. Farah was placed under arrest and was searched. An additional 1.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located. Mr. Farah was transported tp the Lincoln County Detention Center for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person.
While speaking with Deputies Mr. Farah said he had traveled to North Platte to meet with Louis Brogdon. Another search warrant was obtained from the information gathered during the contact and was later served on the residence.
During the search of Mr. Brogdon’s residence, a male was located inside. The male was identified as sixty-two year old James Brogdon, of North Platte. Mr. Brogdon was found to be in possession of 2.4 grams of suspected Methamphetamine and jailed for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Also in the residence were large amounts of Pseudoephedrine pills along with ammunition.
The investigation in this matter continues and more arrests are possible.
