Results of Speed Grant

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office completed participation in a Statewide Speed Enforcement initiative to reduce the amount of serious injury and fatal crashes caused by excessive speeds.

During the period of July 20, 2022, to August 14, 2022, extra Deputies were on the Roads thanks to a grant provided by the Nebraska Department of Highway Safety.

Deputies conducted one hundred thirty-five traffic stops resulting in forty citations being issued. Twenty-five drivers were issued speeding citations. Citations were also issued for the following offenses: Four driving on a suspended license, ten for expired registration, five for no insurance, and four having no operator’s license. Five drivers were issued citations for possession of marijuana and six for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Three drivers were arrested for driving while intoxicated and one for possession of methamphetamine. Deputies arrested six individuals for outstanding warrants and two stolen vehicles were recovered. Deputies assisted twenty motorists on the Roads over the time period.
