Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Search
On May 27, 2019 at 1:50 a.m., a Deputy observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 at a high rate of speed. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, as he did this the vehicle drove into the ditch and then back on the interstate. The vehicle eventually stopped at mile marker 164 and the Deputy met with the female driver.
The driver was identified as forty year old Brandi Peters of Hazel Creast, IL. A passenger was identified as thirty year old Anwon McDonald of Markham, IL. The Deputy smelled raw and burnt Marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Ms. Peters advised there may be a little bit of Marijuana in the vehicle.
A search was conducted of the vehicle, Deputies discovered approximately 2.75 pounds of Marijuana, some suspected THC Wax and seized over $1400 in cash. Both Ms. Peters and Mr. McDonald were arrested and incarcerated in the Lincoln County Detention Center. They were both charged with Possession of Marijuana more than a Pound, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and No Drug Dealer Tax Stamp.
