Beef Burglars

On August 21, 2023, around 8:45 p.m., the Lincoln County 911 Center received a report of a Burglary in progress east of Maxwell, NE. The caller was the owner of the property and observed an older pickup leaving her home, as she pulled in the driveway. The caller also noticed her deep freeze was in the back of the pickup as it passed her.

Deputies met with the property owners and discovered the subjects had indeed taken a deep freeze completely full of beef. Also, numerous tools and other items were taken from the house and shop. To top it off, the suspects stole a Ford Crown Victoria car from the residence. An intense investigation was conducted by Deputies, and they did develop several suspects. Deputies did recover the stolen Crown Victoria in North Platte, NE on August 22, 2023, near a local park.

During the morning hours of August 23, 2023, Deputies located fifty-four year old Rick Reeves of North Platte and sixty-two year old Joedy Brummels of North Platte, NE at separate locations. Mr. Reeves and Mr. Brummels were both arrested for Burglary and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. Mr. Reeves and Mr. Brummels were incarcerated in the Lincoln County Detention Center.

Deputies executed a search warrant at Mr. Reeves residence in North Platte, NE. during the afternoon hours of August 23, 2023. Deputies located the stolen deep freeze full of meat plugged in outside of the residence. Additional stolen items were found inside and outside of the residence. Deputies located two rifles in the residence and Mr. Reeves is a convicted felon, prohibited from having them.

Deputies ended the search for the evening because the extensive amount of suspected stolen property in the residence. It was sealed and guarded all night as it seemed clear Mr. Reeves residence was a hub for potentially stolen items.

On August 24, 2023, during the morning hours, Deputies continued the search and wrote additional search warrant for the suspected stolen property. Several truck loads of property were seized, and a small amount of suspected Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia was taken.

Thirty-six-year-old Matthew Reeves of 29 Palms, California is also wanted in connection to the Burglary and Theft. Deputies are actively searching for him as well. This case is ongoing and additional charges will follow.

UPDATE

On August 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., thirty-six-year-old Matthew Reeves of 29 Palms, CA turned himself into Deputies.  Mr. Reeves was charged with Burglary, Theft and Possession of Stolen Property.  Mr. Reeves was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center.   Investigation is ongoing.
