Fatality ATV Accident

On May 31, 2016 at 11:15 p.m., Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to an All-Terrain Vehicle Accident on South Miriam Road and East Meadow Lawns Road (southeast of North Platte). It was reported two individuals were injured at the scene.

Deputies and North Platte Rescue responded to the scene and found the driver of the ATV (two passenger vehicle) was deceased. The driver of the ATV was identified as forty nine year old Martin C. Porter of North Platte. The passenger a forty-eight year old North Platte male was seriously injured and taken to Great Plains Health.

Accident Reconstructionist from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to investigate. Preliminary indications show the ATV was northbound on Miriam Road and attempted to turn East on Meadow Lawns Road. The driver was unable to negotiate the corner and the vehicle rolled, injuring the occupants. Seatbelts were not in use and alcohol may be a factor in the accident. The investigation in this matter continues.
