North Platte Man Arrested for Assault

On April 20, 2021 at 12:30 a.m., Deputies received a call of an assault in progress at a residence on Highway 30, just west of North Platte. It was reported a male subject entered the home and started swinging a baseball bat.

Deputies and North Platte Police Officers arrived at the location and saw a male subject on top of another actively assaulting him. The suspect was subdued and placed under arrest. The suspect was identified as thirty-one year old North Platte native Michael Lappegard. Deputies contacted North Platte Fire and Rescue for the one victim who suffered a laceration of his head, but refused medical transport.

Deputies located an aluminum baseball bat at the scene and Mr. Lappegard had suspected controlled substance (pills) on his person. Mr. Lappegard was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center following charges; Second Degree Assault, Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony and Possession of Controlled Substance two counts.
